01 - INTRODUCTION

Rebuilding a live product into a complete design source of truth

The available Figma source did not fully represent the application or its user flows. I worked with the live product to understand how everything worked, then recreated the application structure in Figma.

This included rebuilding screens and user flows, creating interactive prototypes, designing the responsive website, and keeping the designs updated as new features and product versions were released.

OVERVIEW

My work was not limited to recreating screens. I explored the live application feature by feature, documented its flows and states, and built a structured Figma repository that could be used for design, discussion, prototyping, and testing.

As new features and version updates were introduced, I updated the relevant designs and shared them with the IT team for implementation. Once a new version was released, I shared the updated Figma file across the company, highlighting the latest changes and updates across different features.

THE CHALLENGE

Reconstructing a product that was already live

There was no complete design documentation to work from. I had to discover how each flow worked by using the live application, understand different states and edge cases, and translate that experience into a structured design file.

At the same time, the product continued to evolve as new versions and features were released — which meant the designs also had to evolve with it.

02 - APPROACH

How the work

got done.

01
RECONSTRUCT THE SOURCE OF TRUTH

I explored the live application systematically and rebuilt it screen by screen in Figma. This created a complete application file that could be used by the team for design discussions, flow reviews, prototyping, and testing.

02
KEEP VERSION ORGANISED

As new versions were released, I maintained a structured repository for each version. This made it easier to track what had changed, compare previous and current designs, and keep the product history organised.

03
DESIGN HANDOFF & COMMUNICATION

I kept the relevant designs updated as new features and changes were introduced, and then shared them with the IT team for implementation. Once a version was released, I shared the updated Figma file with the company to keep everyone aligned on the latest changes.

04
VALIDATE THE EXPERIENCE

I tested the implemented features to make sure they matched the intended design and user flows. This included functional, user-flow, UI, responsive, and regression testing, along with bug reporting and fix validation.

03 - MY ROLE

My contribution

My contribution covered both product design and quality validation, allowing me to look at the product from both a design and user-experience perspective.

04 - OUTCOME

Final result

The project turned an incomplete design source into a structured and maintainable product repository.

01

A COMPLETE PRODUCT RECREATED IN FIGMA

The live application was mapped and reconstructed into a structured Figma file covering its screens and user flows.

02

CLEAR VERSION HISTORY

Each released version had its own organised design repository, making changes and design history easier to track.

03

DESIGNS KEPT IN SYNC WITH THE PRODUCT

As the product evolved, the corresponding designs and flows were continuously updated to reflect the latest version.

04

DESIGN & QA WORKING TOGETHER

Because I worked across both design and manual QA, I could validate not only how the product looked, but also how the actual flows and features worked.
