01 - INTRODUCTION

KnackCity is a two-sided marketplace that connects people who need work done with skilled service providers looking for opportunities — from carpenters and cleaners to gardeners, pet care providers, and more.

OVERVIEW

KnackCity is a marketplace connecting people who need work done with skilled service providers looking for opportunities — from carpenters and cleaners to gardeners, pet care providers, and more.

The product serves two distinct user types with opposite goals: people posting jobs and providers looking for work. I designed the mobile application and webview experience across the core journeys — from competitor research and UX exploration to feature flows, UI design, and interactive prototyping.

I designed the mobile application and webview experience across the core journeys — from competitor research and UX exploration to feature flows, UI design, and interactive prototyping.

THE CHALLENGE

The key challenge was designing one marketplace experience around two different user goals.

Job posters need a simple way to describe what they need, evaluate applicants, and hire the right person. Providers need to showcase their skills, discover relevant opportunities, and apply with confidence.

The experience had to make both sides feel clear and intuitive while keeping the overall product consistent.

02 - APPROACH

Designing for both sides

of the marketplace.

01
UNDERSTAND THE MARKETPLACE

Competitor research across service marketplaces helped identify common patterns, user expectations, and opportunities for simplifying the experience on both sides of the platform.

02
CONNECT BOTH USER JOURNEYS

I mapped the two journeys in parallel — from creating and posting a job to reviewing applicants and hiring, and from building a provider profile to discovering opportunities and applying.

This helped ensure that actions on one side naturally connected with the experience on the other.

03
DESIGN MOBILE-FIRST, EXTEND TO WEBVIEW

The mobile application formed the core experience, while the webview extended the same product experience to the web. Both were designed with consistent interactions, visual language, and information hierarchy.

04
PROTOTYPE & REFINE

Interactive prototyping helped bring the core journeys together and evaluate how users would move through the marketplace. This allowed key interactions and flows to be refined before handoff and stakeholder review.

03 - MY ROLE

My contribution

I was involved throughout the product design cycle, translating the product requirements into practical experiences while working closely with the team to shape, refine, and prepare the designs for development.
